Domestic violence is a tragic reality for many, even in Christian homes, but it’s difficult to know how to address the issue. Now, in this unique partnership, you can gain a foundational understanding of the underlying causes of domestic violence, be shaped by biblical perspectives on abuse, learn from experts how to address the dynamics of domestic violence, and have an opportunity to apply this learning in a mentored project addressing a specific facet of this issue in your own ministry context.

Understanding the Dynamics of Domestic Violence - 3 credit hours
This course consists of a weekend training session and nine weeks of subsequent online interaction and assignments. In it, you will learn from experts in the field about how domestic violence begins and is perpetuated, including the definition of abuse, the power and control wheel, and the cycle of abuse.

Biblical Perspectives on Domestic Abuse - 3 credit hours
This course will build a foundation for a biblical understanding of domestic abuse, answering questions surrounding a biblical view of marriage, the meaning of forgiveness, and the appropriateness of Christians utilizing community resources.

Mentored Project - 3 credit hours
This course will allow you to design and build your own project to address a specific issue of domestic violence in consultation with an experienced mentor.
