Learn to live a balanced life and maintain a wellness mindset. For those times when illness strikes, the Health Services are here for you. Complete with a doctor and a nurse, and open every weekday during the semester, Health Services can help you with all of your health-related needs.

What are the benefits of Health Services?

The Wellness Centre encourages developing a healthy lifestyle and recognizes there are times, especially during university life, when maintaining balance in life is difficult. The physicians and nurse are available to discuss key wellness issues such as nutrition, exercise, stress management, depression, sexual health, etc. There are also pamphlets and reading material in the waiting room that you may find helpful.

Is this a confidential service?

Health Services will maintain strict confidentiality regarding all of your health concerns. All records within Health Services are confidential. Personal information can only be released with your written consent. Exceptions are only made in the case of life threatening emergencies or as required by law and/or public health regulations.

What should I see the doctor about?

• The usual services provided by your family doctor, such as diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses
• Minor injuries including stitches and uncomplicated fractures
• Special interests: mental health, sports related injuries.
• Women’s Health

What should I see the nurse about?

• Minor treatments, dressings and health concerns
• Lab work such as blood tests, urinalysis, STD, and pregnancy testing etc.

Come in to chat about any wellness issues or concerns you may have. Talking to the nurse is a great place to start if you are unsure of what’s going on and whether to seek medical or counselling help.

Lab Services

Laboratory services are available by appointment with the campus nurse. Most lab services are covered by provincial medical insurance. Most STD testing (including HIV) is free.

Is there a fee to see the doctor or nurse?

Every Canadian resident is required by law to have provincial medical insurance. This entitles you to be treated at any clinic, hospital or lab in Canada free of charge, for most services, including the medical clinic in Trinity Western’s Wellness Centre.

Some medical services such as physicals for non-medical reasons (sports, missons, work or driver’s license) are not covered by provincial health insurance and will be charged to the patient as per the rates below. Here is more information regarding BC medical insurance.

When is a physician or nurse available?

Trinity Western’s campus physician and nurse are available Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. 12 p.m. and 1 - 4:30 p.m. during the regular university semester.

Do I have to book an appointment?

You can book an appointment through the Wellness Centre (604.513.2024) or drop-in during office hours. By making an appointment you will avoid waiting.

Health Cards

Please remember to bring your health card with you when visiting the Health Services. Proof of insurance is required to avoid being billed for insured services.
