Heading into the last two home games of the season, Paul Lindemulder is optimistic about playoffs, “Things are pretty tight this year and we really won’t know where we stand till all the dust settles, but I think we have a strong control over our fate.”
Spotlight - Daniel Horner
Spartan of the Week - date: Jan. 25th, 2010
This summer, Daniel Horner is embarking on a new adventure, leading seven of his teammates to Haiti on a mission’s trip. “It’s an amazing opportunity. I just found out we’re going earlier this week. There’s still a lot to arrange, but I’m excited.”

“Never give up,” said Amber Brown, one of TWU’s strongest women’s Volleyball players. “That’s what I’ve learned from volleyball, to never give up on my dream.”
Spotlight - Marc Howatson
Spartan of the Week - date: Jan. 13th, 2010
“I started playing Volleyball when I was in grade two or three. My brother, Josh who is one of the most highly decorated players at TWU and is now playing professionally in Spain, was already playing and I remember really wanting to be cool, like him,” said Howatson, one of TWU’s top players this season. “It’s been a really great motivator, having someone to really look up to and be inspired by- I think it’s made me a stronger player.”
Spotlight - Jason Keegstra

Jason Keegstra feels there’s more to education then what happens in the classroom and on the court, “in my life, I’ve tried to apply my learning to more than my classes. I love the opportunity to learn about and try to understand the people I meet, to get to know how they’ve experienced life.”

At the end of her first year, Emily Knauff felt lost. Between the demands of school and basketball, she felt her priorities slip away, I felt like I’d become very me centric, and that’s not how I wanted to live my life.”
Spotlight - Carmen Dyck

“I don’t know what I’m doing here,” explained Carmen Dyck, one of Trinity Western’s leading women’s volleyball players. “God called me out of the blue to be here, so I’m trusting in him and having fun while I do so.”

One of the key elements to the success of this year’s volleyball team, Rudy Verhoeff refuses to take the rest of his team for granted, “We’re not just friends, but brothers.”
Spotlight - Nathan Square-Briggs
Spartan of the Week - date: Oct. 24th, 2009
“It’s like you’re running a long race, your body aches and your lungs are starting to burn. Your body’s saying stop- but you have the choice in your heart, in your mind, to keep going,” began Nathan Square-Biggs, one of the longest serving Spartans. “As an athlete you learn to make that choice. To channel that focus it’s impacted my game and led into the rest of my life.”
Spotlight - Kristen Funk
Spartan of the Week - date: Oct. 17th, 2009
“I almost quit soccer when I was 14 years old,” explained last year’s star rookie keeper, Kristen Funk. “But I was given the chance to play on the provincial team for three years and then spent a year at the national training center- the experience renewed my love of soccer.”
Spotlight - Nathan Pogue
Spartan of the Week - date: Oct. 2nd, 2009
Star forward Nathan Pogue, who was named Canada West Athlete of the Week Sept. 21, always has a plan. Arriving at Trinity Western University, he knew he would graduate in four years, spend a semester in Ottawa, and take home a national championship. However, last season he discovered that sometimes God has other plans.
Spotlight - Melissa Mobilio
Spartan of the Week - date: Sep. 26th, 2009
With a bright smile and cheerful deposition, it is easy to understand why Melissa Mobilio is considered a rising star. While she hopes to one day teach Elementary school and run soccer camps, right now she’s focused on the home opener against UBC. “[I’m excited] just being able to be back in the atmosphere with the girls,” Mobilio said, “we’re ready to go.”
