FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SPARTANS DROP T-BIRDS AT KEG SPRING CUP
VICTORIA - The CIS runner-up Trinity Western University men's soccer team defeated the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds 3-1 to open the Keg Spring Cup Saturday afternoon in Victoria.
The Spartans were powered by a pair of goals from David Rowse (St. Albert, Alta.). The fourth-year striker scored in the 11th minute, and then again in the 47th minute. Rowse's two tallies sandwiched teammates Daniel Lowen's (Langley, B.C.) goal in the 22nd minute.
The lone T-Birds marker came in the 24th minute by Sebastian Crema (North Vancouver).
TWU will now play Sunday at 4 p.m. in the Keg Spring Cup championship match against the University of Saskatchewan. The Huskies advanced by defeating the University of Victoria 1-0 in the other Saturday match.
