FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
TWU MATCH AGAINST OREGON STATE CANCELED
EUGENE, Ore. - Due to new NCAA regulations the men's soccer match between Trinity Western University and Oregon State University has been canceled. The Spartans will now have a scrimmage match against Northwest Christian University from Eugene, Ore.
The regulation change resulted in the match no longer being a foreign match, which meant the OSU had too many matches on their schedule.
"We have always had great matches against Oregon State and it is very disappointing not to be able to test ourselves against a top level team," commented TWU head coach Al Alderson.
The Spartans will play the Northwest Christian Beacons at 11 a.m. on the campus of Oregon State on Friday morning. They will then travel to Spokane, Wash. for their match with Gonzaga University on Sun. Aug. 24 at 3:30 p.m.
TWU will then return to Langley, B.C. to face the University of Calgary in a non-conference match on Tue. Aug. 26 at 7 p.m. and Concordia University on Wed. Aug. 27 at 1 p.m.
The Spartans are 0-1-4 lifetime against the Beavers, which including a thrilling 3-2 loss last August.
