Deanna M. Mackey, MSc, BPE
Deanna Mackey first came to Trinity Western to be the Athletic Therapist for the varsity athletics teams. In addition to this role, she taught the Athletic Injuries course and was soon asked to join the Human Kinetics program full-time. She has over 20 years of teaching experience in a variety of settings and brings this knowledge to Trinity Western classrooms. Deanna's research centered on injury rates in athletics and later concussion assessment.
Deanna has served for many years in the sports medicine community. She was the Medical Director of the BC Summer Games and had an exciting opportunity serving as the Supervisor of Athletic Therapy for the 2010 Olympics and Paralympics. She has been active with the Athletic Therapists Association of British Columbia (ATABC) and the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association (CATA) serving as the Chair of the Education Committee of CATA and the President of ATABC. Deanna was recognized by CATA with a research grant and two writing awards. She also served on the Board of Directors of SportMedBC for six years.
