Every year TWU graduate students are challenged to distill their research into an engaging and informative short talk at the Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) competition.
To excel in the competition, students must deliver a clear, compelling, and captivating story on the aims of their research and its significance for broader society.
TWU's Three Minute Thesis Competition 2024
Come and attend the 3MT on March 14, 2024 to see how graduate students at Trinity Western share the story of their research through short and engaging three-minute talks. See event details.
Opportunities for learning
Organized by the Office of Graduate Studies, the 3MT competition is an annual event that provides opportunities for graduate students to share their research discoveries with others and exercise confidence in communication and public speaking.
Trinity Western students benefit in many ways from participating in 3MT events. They receive coaching to help them summarize and present their research to a general audience. These skills can become useful when students participate in conferences, work on grant writing, publish their research, build their network, apply to funding agencies, and many other aspects of their academic and professional lives.
The 3MT event was founded by The University of Queensland in 2008. Today, 3MT competitions are held in at least 600 universities across more than 65 countries worldwide. In Canada, winning students from various institutions can advance to compete at regional and national levels.
