Since 1945, InspirED has been hosting an annual convention to provide professional development for B.C. and Washington area K-12 Christian school educators. The first cross-border event was in 1972.
This year on Nov. 10, the InspirED Convention's 50th anniversary event comes to Trinity Western University.
Attendees from U.S. and Canada who share a common vision for educating children from a Christian worldview gather this week at Trinity Western University to exchange knowledge, ideas, and experience in their field of work. Conference activities include keynote addresses, networking opportunities, and a variety of engaging workshops.
The InspirED Convention is jointly governed by two organizations who share a common mission to serve Christian teachers: Christian Educators of British Columbia (CEBC) and Northwest Christian Schools International (NWCSI).
This year's keynote presenter is Dr. Rebecca McLaughlin, author of Confronting Christianity. Among the conference's speakers are TWU faculty members Dr. Derrick Mohamed of TWU GLOBAL and Susan M. Dykshoorn of the School of Education.
TWU School of Education Open House
Just in time for the InspirEd Convention, the School of Education is hosting an open house on Nov. 10 at its new location in the DeVries Centre, a freshly renovated space that provides double the previous classroom capacity. Open house guests can enjoy a dessert bar and live music, tour the brand-new space, and meet TWU alumni and professors.
About TWU's School of Education
TWU’s School of Education is the only faith-based teacher education program in the province. Since 2001, it has established a strong reputation for providing undergraduate and professional year programs (PYP). Moreover, the numbers of TWU education graduates have recently doubled. This past spring, nearly the entire cohort of education majors secured job placements prior to graduation.
New graduate certificate programs in Christian School Education and Outdoor Environmental Education provide more options for teachers to upgrade their training.
