Education
What makes TWU different from other liberal arts universities is the integration of Christianity into our education. Our university exists so that through our students, professors, and alumni, the world will experience the truth, hope, and reconciliation of Christ’s love. Being a diverse Christian liberal arts university means that we have classrooms where you can openly discuss every subject, including faith, and discover what role it plays in your studies, your career, and ultimately who you are as a human being.
What is a liberal arts education? Trinity Western University is rooted in this classic tradition, in which case, liberal means many, as in many arts or disciplines. In addition to courses for your major, you take courses in English, fine arts, history, human kinetics, philosophy, natural sciences, religious studies, society, and culture. When you get an education at TWU, you not only know the technical skills of your degree, but also a broad way to approach subjects beyond your major. You won’t learn what to think, but how to think, and that makes all the difference when you move into the working world where employers are looking for skilled and intuitive thinkers.
Community
A Christian liberal arts education envelops students and professors in a common experience of learning. Our students have a passion to live and learn together, and professors are dedicated to challenging and getting to know students. With our small campus and classrooms, it’s easy to be involved in our diverse community. Whether it’s playing intramural soccer on the pitch, involving yourself in a discipleship group, or having coffee with your professors, you will find that our community is engaging and energizing.
Our community also has a common desire to serve others for the glory of God. From nursing students helping to provide better health care in Zambia, to the International Social Justice Club raising awareness of the sex-trade industry, to graduates working with the homeless in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, our students use their education to meet the world’s deepest needs.
