Fall semester (September 5 to December 17)

 

 

  • WRTG 100 (University Writing - required English course) OR WRTG 101 (for students whose first language is not English)
  • UNIV 101 (Intro. to University - core requirement) 
  • COMM 111 (Intro. to Communications - elective OR core requirement for Society & Culture)
  • PSYC 106 (Intro. to Psychology - elective OR core requirement for Society & Culture)
  • HKIN 190 (Concepts of Physical Fitness - core requirement)

      Total for fall: 12 semester hours

 

Spring Semester (January 7 to April 26)

 

  • ENGL 103 (Intro to Literature: Short Fiction & Poetry - core requirement) OR ENGL 101 (for students whose first language is not English)
  • PHIL 210 (Contemporary Ethical Issues - core requirement)
  • RELS 102 ((Intro to New Testament - core requirement)
  • One or two courses of your choice - towards your major or minor
  • Students may also take a 1 s.h. course of their choice - HKIN activity course, membership on a Spartan's team, major choir or ensemble

      Total for spring: 12-16 semester hours

 **Note: Students who do not pass WRTG 100 must retake it in the spring semester, as it is a prerequisite for ENGL 103.Similarly, international students must pass WRTG 101 before taking ENGL 101. Students who fail courses in the first semester may lose the opportunity to chose their own course in the second semester. Instead, they may be required to retake the failed courses in order to increase their overall grade.

 

Summer Session - If you have not completed 27 semester hours (credits)

  • Your choice of one 3 credit course (online or face to face). Note: If a student has taken an additional course in the spring, he/she does not take the summer course as part of Freshman Academy. However, all students are welcome to take summer courses.
