Spartan women overmatched in volleyball

Langley, British Columbia –
It was a long drive into downtown Vancouver for the Trinity Western University women’s volleyball team on November 5. The Spartans faced rival University of British Columbia in Canada West action and were on the losing end of a 0-3 final. UBC won with game scores 25-24, 25-23 and 25-7.

Jolene Dryfhout led the Spartans with 7 digs and 3 kills.

“Leis Verhoeff had a very strong blocking game. She was able to set the tone for us in the first game, but unfortunately we were unable to sustain it throughout the game. Erica McLean helped to rally us when we were down in the 3rd game,” noted Head Coach Larry Plenert.

“UBC played a strong and consistent game and really outplayed us tonight,” added Plenert.

The Spartans will face UBC again on November 6, in War Memorial Gymnasium, on the campus of UBC. The game will begin at 8 p.m.
