Student Opportunities
Art Club
This student art group provides leadership experience and builds community among the art community at TWU.
Interdisciplinary Travel Study
On alternate years SAMC offers an interdisciplinary travel study course to London and Paris. Students are encouraged to think critically and reflectively about the divinely endowed gifts of human creativity as expressed in the visual arts, theatre, dance and music. Onsite lectures/discussions, visits to art galleries and museums, and attendance at a number of concerts and plays challenge students to develop and deepen their biblically informed aesthetic and explore the role of the arts in both illuminating and enriching their lives.
New York Center for Art and Media Studies (NYCAMS)
A study opportunity offered in both Fall and Spring (recruiting from over 15 Christian Schools). This program offers students studio experience, art history and an internship custom-designed for them at a New York venue. Dorm spaces and studios are 8 blocks from the Chelsea Gallery district in New York.
Exhibitions
The department provides opportunities for students to exhibit their work on or off campus. Each year-end art show features work from graduating art students. Students are involved in every aspect of the show from the making of the artwork to the business side of exhibitions, such as publicity, funding, and event planning.
Practica Program
Students can work alongside practicing professionals in various areas such as design, visual art, museums and galleries. Students may also choose to work on one of several student publications for their practicum credits.
Department Leadership
Leadership opportunities within the department include paid positions such as printmaking assistant, design lab assistant, shop assistant, and studio assistant. Full-time faculty studios are on campus, allowing students to engage with faculty artwork and assist or collaborate with faculty on projects.
