SPARTANS CAPTURE CIS BRONZE WITH WIN OVER OTTAWA

SHERBROOKE, Quebec – For the second time in school history, the Trinity Western women’s volleyball team will return home from the CIS championship with a bronze medal as the Spartans captured third place at the national tournament with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-13) win over Ottawa Saturday afternoon.

SHERBROOKE, Quebec – The No. 4 seeded Trinity Western women’s volleyball team will have to wait at least another for a shot at a CIS gold medal as the Spartans dropped a heart-breaking four-set loss in the semifinals to No. 1 UBC (22-25, 25-14, 25-20, 25-23) Friday night the national championship tournament.

SHERBROOKE, Quebec – The No. 4 seeded Trinity Western women’s volleyball team made short work of the No. 5 Dalhousie Tigers in its CIS championship quarter-final match as the Spartans rolled to a straight sets win (25-13, 25-18, 25-19) Thursday afternoon to advance to the semifinals.

SHERBROOKE, Quebec – Trinity Western setter Kelci French (Okotoks, Alta.) and middle Alicia Perrin (Creston, B.C.) were both named CIS Second Team All-Canadians at the national championship banquet Wednesday evening at the Delta Hotel.

VANCOUVER – The Trinity Western women’s volleyball team saw its hopes of winning its first ever Canada West gold medal dashed Saturday afternoon as the Spartans lost to UBC in four sets (25-23, 18-25, 25-18, 25-20) at the War Memorial Gym.

VANCOUVER – The Trinity Western University Spartans are headed back to the CIS women’s volleyball championship next week in Quebec. The No. 2 Spartans earned the trip with a solid 3-1 victory over the No. 6 University of Alberta Pandas in the second semi-final of the Canada West Final Four Thursday night at War Memorial Gym on the campus of UBC in Vancouver.

LANGLEY, British Columbia – With Amber Brown (Three Hills, Alta.) collecting a record-setting 23 kills, the No. 2 Trinity Western women’s volleyball team knocked off Calgary 3-1 (22-25, 25-15, 25-21, 25-8) Friday at the Langley Events Centre to complete its best-of-three series sweep over the Dinos in the Canada West quarter-final and advance to the Canada West Final Four.
