T.W.U. Spartans (44) vs. University of Regina (91)
Women Drop Both on Weekend
Langley, British Columbia - It was another long night for the Trinity Western University women's basketball team on November 20. After being beaten by 55 the night before, the Spartans fell to the University of Regina by 47 (91-44).
The Spartans (2-4) hung tough for the first ten minutes of play, as they were within 4 points at one time, but Regina (5-1) quickly pulled away. The Cougar's 18-point half time lead grew in the second half, as the Spartans were simply not able to keep pace with the running and pressing Cougars.
Regina's Corrin Wersta led the game with her 26 points. Phoebe De Ciman added 17 points and 7 rebounds for the Cougars. Janice Berend's 10 points and Katie Hall's 8 rebounds paced the Spartans.
Head Coach Rebecca Hays commented, "We need to learn to trust in the system. We need to start doing things right every time down the floor."
"Katie Hall and Helen Worley, two freshman, played really well for us tonight. Katie led us in rebounds and Helen stepped up and did just as well as the older players," added Hays.
The Spartans will play a non-conference game on November 27, as they host Skagit Valley College. Game time will be 7 p.m.
