David Clements

Welcome to my blog – I am a co-director of environmental studies and professor of Biology at Trinity Western University. My expertise is in weed ecology, looking at restoring natural habitats impacted by invasive plants and weed management in agriculture.

I love teaching freshmen Biology and a variety of hands-on courses on plants and ecology, including Trinity Western courses on Salt Spring Island, BC and Maui, Hawaii.

Over the last few years I have enjoyed penning the “Green Beat” on environmental issues for a local newspaper, the Langley Times. I never know what I am going to write about from month to month but somehow the seed of an idea crops up every month. Likewise, I have no idea about what I will be blogging about, but weed seeds have a way of sprouting in unexpected ways!
